For those of you who have never spied my etsy site, I've posted some work for sale there, and will be adding some more stuff (including handpainted t-shirts too!) later today. Check it out : www.kimebuzzelli.etsy.com
I also have some super special FLAPPER dresses that I've cherished forever that I'm sadly parting ways with. These lovely frocks are in need of a good home. They are wall worthy and meant to be worshipped. One of them looks like it was salvaged from the Titanic. Now all you need is Leo for a re-enactment play in your very own bedroom.
Anyway- check out some of the luscious 20's dress details and then start bidding.
these are all on the show pony ebay page: found here-
sorry if this link is not working- if so you can click in the column on the left under Show pony's ebay-
Guess what the SHOW PONY ladies are taking part in tomorrow!? That's right the Presideo Hotel's second annual crafty ladies expo. That's where you gather all of your handmade goods and haul it over to Santa Barbara, get a sweet boutique motel room and then sell your wares in the lot below.
As you know, I've been tied up with some insane home remodel projects that are way over my head. I've almost cut off a finger, stepped on rusty nails, and uncovered some creepy things under that carpet. Back in 1999, when I moved into this 20's building- the old landlords told me that I couldn't have hardwood floors. They mentioned that they were too messed up to be saved. I suppose I should've listened more intently. What a mess.
My friend Fran was a real trooper last week. She helped me dispose of the rubble. We decided this project has probably left us infertile. All the chemical vapors and fumes we inhaled along with the stale lead paint we stirred up with the sander...ouch.
But I decided that everything really just needs more paint. A lot of coats of new paint. So here's the semi-progress. Still have months more of work ahead.
The last week I've been knee deep in floor disaster. Rusty nails and staples and lots of boxes blocking access to everywhere. I had started this home remodel plan with lots of gusto, and have now surrendered to a bit of defeat. Where did all this stuff come from? How do I get it out of my life? How come the wood under my carpet is so creepy?
Tis true what they say about a home in chaos is a life in chaos. I have felt a multitude of exhaustion and grief. I will post some of the "after" pictures as soon as the rubble is cleared.
On a happy colorful note: I have been uplifted with hope after seeing some nice inspirational editorial pics in the latest MUSE mag issue #14.
Here's some of the good ones- that remind me of pretty painting colors
I also checked out some of the Fashion week pics and felt like wearing these designs by Cheap and Chic Moschino would be rad
check out the bunny print
I'am so excited for the debut of the latest issue of Cheap and Plastique. I contributed some artwork for the issue and did a lil interview for it. My art/pal Elizabeth Huey will also be in the issue. If in NYC- head to the big DEBUT party:
picked up d. scheid at the airport fresh from his trip to London. We then raced home and repacked and took off for joshua tree/29 palms.
We had been invited to a house in the middle of no place with some pals from chi-town. We got there at midnight, and hung out by the fire. It was nice to get away, if only to drive my new car on dirt trails and breath dry desert air. Next time I plan on bringing my art supplies and lounging around all day.
Before I had to leave I made sure to get some face painting done
The thing about Fashion Week is that you want to come away with a WOW epiphany. By that I mean, you are looking for the strange mash up of style and colors that you can attempt to find outside of the designer's pieces. The desire to find new and vintage things reminiscent of a successful collection. That one overall thing that makes you excited to get dressed again. Often shows neglect to inspire a style change, and leave you feeling like, "oh another round of that again". For me I look for a POW in the face of colors that combined make no sense. According to Nicole Phelps (style maven) Marc Jacobs new Spring RTW line was: " a mash-up to end all mash-ups, and as an American in Paris—that was Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" cleverly playing on the soundtrack—Jacobs is better situated than most to deliver it. I'd have to say that the line seems like a tribal carefree grunge glam rainbow lady refined. There is a toughness to those head wraps and layering.I'm half expecting a picnic on a porch or a banjo jamboree. I especially like the clunky jewels and kimono like waists.
this is the blur of activity I've handled the past few weeks:
1./ attended my pal Gitte's birthday, she's from Denmark and throws fun house parties. You may recall the one last year where we all ended up in the pool? And the naked guy fell on a cactus patch?
here's me with my old roommate sarah cake
she was wearing a latex bondage dress and decided that the pool seemed like a good idea
she sort of started a movement towards diving in...
when we asked Scheid to score some towels for us, he came back with one dirty kitchen rag about 18 inches long.
speaking of Scheid, check out his doppelganger. Looks like Gloria may have some explaining to do
try dancing while soaking wet. Pretty fun
something about wearing a wet jumper makes me go kinda "whitesnake video"
ok so then the following day it's off to Fran's new amazing apt and her BBQ
can you believe Fran's good luck? She landed this incredible apartment, with fab tiles and sweet plant gardens
after the BBQ we ended up singing karaoke with the bad boys of Han Cholo. We actually walked in to the place while they were singing the Outfield- "I just wanna use your love tonight"
and here's Lincoln winning the entire crowd over with Sweet Caroline
the next day (Labor Day) was the traditional (new annual) shoot 'em up holiday. Scheid called to tell me that we need to go to the LA GUN Club every Labor Day. Last year we went after a tough breakup. And this year after finding out that my hunch about my ex's infidelities were in fact true- what's a girl to do but go to a Gun Club and work it out. I know I never get too personal on this blog (the original intent was a blog on things that inspire creativity) but occasionally you have to release a bummer post where you reveal that you got taken for a ride by some sleazy director's smoke and mirrors. It's really very roman polanski meets woody allen but without all the talent and fame.
fran is getting her gun on. She had pretty good aim.
then it's on to last Friday- and the silkscreening event I participated in. It was pretty cool printing things for little kids
check out my pal Amber's kid Angelo (in red & hat) with his cool posse
frohawk gearing up for a screenprint
afterwards we went up to the Hollywood Hills to D.J. and sing KAraoke video games
these next ones are a dedication for mr. scheid (who I'm going to get at the airport tomorrow) who ever said a dog is a "man's best friend"
Also this week we went to the NYLON 90210 party at the Roosevelt. It was kinda over the top. Lots of L.A people dying to get in. Cynthia and I watched while PAris Hilton got asked to have her picture taken with a bunch of people. It was sort of like she was the Grand Canyon like a scenic site or a wax figure that people just wanted to prove they visited. I felt bad for her really. Also in attendance- LC from the hills and Mk olsen- and lot of other super skinny minnies.
Saturday night, we went over to Culver City to see the new Kyle Field show at Taylor de Cordoba gallery. It was amazing! And it seems that we may have discovered where some cute smart boys hang out.
here's Fran listening to a rad painting/collage with sound
then it was up to the NEW Show CAVE show in Echo Park. The whole space was filled to the brim with drawings and videos. A nice creepy angry art vibe. Considering that a crazy drive-by shooting took place the monday before- the scene was a bit edgy.
Don Bowles from the Germs played music at the art show (and Nora Keyes sang lead)
after that we went by the Hyperion Tavern...where we noticed that the men's bathroom had a nice peep hole for spying, or posing
this is how long it's been since I planned a post- yikes.
I've been really getting into remodeling my pad and have sort of painted myself into a nice corner. I think it's gonna take a few more months to really get it back into shape. But here's the sneak peek so far and my older entry from August:
Your horoscope for August 28, 2008
Have you done the cleaning up that the planetary configurations asked you to do in recent weeks, kime? If this is the case, today you should start feeling lighter and less weighed down by all the conventions you have in your life. You have undoubtedly solved some of the problems in your relationships. You will feel as if you are in a kind of renaissance throughout the next cycle. Enjoy this period!
Woke up to this! And spent the past few nights up in my apartment with Cynthia pulling out floor nails and painting the walls- STARK WHITE!
It's finally starting to look like real plan. I have paint in my hair, on my eyelashes and on my shoulders. Geez- who ever said house painting was easy? I have a whole new appreciation for the profession. My hands are blistered and my shoulders ache.
I have a long long way to go, but eventually I imagine myself lying on the fresh shiny prussian blue floors. If I squint really really hard I can almost see it that way, with plants and pretty things.
Then let's get into some little AFTER action- here's the floors freshly painted prussian blue- WOW, huh?
It took a lot of furniture moving, and some back aching removal of 1200 heavy foreign fashion magazines. It's crazy how they seem to grow over here at my place. I started to feel a little bit like big Edie from Grey Gardens when my pal Lincoln came over to help install some shelves. The horrific piles and clutter scaring off the help.
check out the new work table! Did I mention that putting it together made me cry for an hour. That's right, blame Ikea. They should put a disclaimer on the box that says if you don't have a boyfriend, husband or good girlfriend willing to come over...this is not going to be put together.
I'm gonna stick a sweet couch someplace in that front void so that I can have pals over to eat pizza and watch bad t.v. shows.
So there's the progress, you can now send me the report so far. I will also be posting the million photos from the past few weeks /and event updates for what I've been getting into.
This Friday night I will be part of a cool event in Los Feliz- you should come and check it OUT! Make something on paper, make something on weird materials

I have been making a mess lately. Ok, more than usual. I will say that I am in the middle of a serious repainting /remodel mood and have placed 4 pieces of furniture in the hall outside of my apt. I plan on ridding myself of more useless stuff in the days to come. My inspiration has been the notion that if I can create a zen-whitewall-haven for my work, complete with tidy books and supplies, the rest will be easy. According to most of my pals I've been saying this like a broken record for almost a year. Fancy that. Well, as of Oct 13 it will be one year since I let go of my tumor, and 6 months since I got rid of that 210 lb roadblock to happiness and success.
This space is going to be active and I plan on getting back to my strange installation days and create all new work.
Til my place is ready for a debut BEFORE and AFTER post...
let's get together on the same page for some inspirational images to make everyone want to Home Depot their spaces. Let's say in advance that the following images ARE NOT FROM MY APT: these are merely pics of rooms that I WISH I lived in.
most of these were taken from the pages of my favorite decorating mag AUSTRALIAN VOGUE LIVING
