(my apologies for blog glitch lately, for some reason the text has been getting cut off at the end. Trying to figure it out and correct)
When I first started this blog in 2006, I had done so merely to post about things that inspired me to want to create art. A place to feature the things I found fascinating in fashion, film, books etc... I had no idea at the time that blogs reach
all kinds of people and that you're communicating your
thoughts to anyone who cares to read.
I got myself into a few
sticky situations in the beginning by posting things on my friends that didn't want things "out there". I also received a few emails requesting I take images down that I didn't own. Some of those were slightly scary and made me bummed about the blog world. However one day after posting an elaborate spread of images that I found amazing, I simply put a quote by Nat Finkelstein on Andy Warhol's factory days .
I had discovered the quote while staying in Japan for an art show. The book was stashed on a bar shelf and was the only thing in English. It seemed Kismet. It was a unique thought he had on the whole factory's narcissistic scene, the constant parade of dress up. It was sort of a sarcastic jab and it immediately made me like Nat Finkelstein. He wasn't afraid to tell it like it really was. How the "art" was made and how Edie was quite frankly a bit boring at times. For the life of me I can't find the original quote I scratched down on a scrap of paper and saved all this time from that book. But it connected me somehow to his work. I received this email from Nat Finkelstein after posting his quote in my blog:
Did i say that ??? i do say THE LONGER ANDY STAYS DEAD:
'THE MORE IMPORTANT
BILLY NAME WAS' I THINK YOUR STUFF IS COOL .LETS CORRESPOND.....
nat finkelstein
the email had this photo attached
to which I replied in an email:
of course you must have said that,
because you're a genius.
as for the book I found it in...
by far the best pictures I've seen in a
long time
Love to correspond- kime buzzelli

the book is amazing! I love
the layout and the big text and overall size of book.
The images are great. I know lots of galleries out here...
are you wanting to show the photos or
just do a book signing or presentation? My art space
is in Echo Pk near hollywood... it's not massive but
has high ceilings. I also have friends who have galleries
in Culver City- and New Image Art just offered me a solo
show for MArch.
She asked if I had anyone else I wanted to share the exhibit
space with so if you do want to do something like that- she has
lots of patrons and collectors who admire who she curates.
It would go well with most of my women paintings and drawings
they are dreamy & faint colored as well. Let me know.
I found that article in the Italian Vogue- do you want me to
scan it and email or physically mail it to your address
so you can have it printed out?
Send me the address or I'll just scan the pages for you.
XO
kime
p.s. I sold out all my work at the ART Miami BAsel show!!
From Nat Finkelstein 12/17/06:
(from myspace he asked to do an art/photo show together:)
i think itwould be great your work so sweetly etherial mine so down and dirty .nat
wow thats a lot of good cheer
For New Image Gallery I think that I would prefer to do a 2
person with your women imagery with my women imagery :rather
than the older Warhols Women ,Edie etc stuff .It maybe cool
to show your take on women and mine side by side .As for the
Edie ,Nico 60's stuff if you could direct me to commercial
gallery I would love you forever . re the Edie book
if you would send a review to amazon it would make me feel
good.my home address:(omitted)
My land line is ----- .cell phone is ------ .
So lets talk and put our heads
together

From Nat Finkelstein Jan 30, 2007hey beautiful
thanks for the incredible review . i am in negotiations
with a major gallery in L. A. for the Fall and will
be doing one in Long Island in the spring time.
I will let you know how things are coming along.
I would still be interested in doing an "Erotica" two person
show with you ,so lets think
about it .

I'm going to ask Marsea--(the owner of New Image) what the availability is for her art space- because that would be great. As for the other stuff I will investigate a more commercial space for you to show that work...

So-- that sounds good. I have to work on getting in touch with marsea. As for that review on amazon- it's done. I think they wait a bit before they post them. What is up with all those freak reviewers early on? Some people like creating a mythical creature and then anything that doesn't support their ideal perception is incorrect. What do they expect- everyone to lie about her real persona?alas
Anyway- Talk to you a.s.a.p about the show

From Nat on myspace reply:aint they crazy ??? problem is i tell the truth ,as i see it and these people are like a line in a rolling stones song . "like the ladies in waiting fora virgin queen; they bitch about things they"ve never seen"I really am itching to get out to the coast and meet up with you .

on 12-23 2006 I sent Nat a Xmas card (the one with me and all the puppets and my Mr. P (the now EX)and wished him a "Merry Whatever"to which he replied on Dec 23- "and you too sweet heart"
Mr. Finkelstein passed away this month. His iconic photographs are truly amazing and will always be a haunting reminder of that specific scene. I am grateful that I was able to meet him from this blog but regret that we never were able to collaborate and do a show. Nat Finkelstein Photography
Such a special post! X
