I woke up in the middle of the night and went to the kitchen and was greeted by my pal Largent. He followed me into the bathroom where he collapsed into my lap. Weirdly I felt like we had a "moment" . He seemed relieved that I had woke up. The past few days he had barely eaten his food, and seemed to retreat to one spot. Justin and I had decided maybe he was sick, and figured we should take him to the vet. We put him in the carrier today, and sat in the waiting room with other cats in distress. He calmly stood there and occasionally pushed his face into my fingers as I tried to comfort him. When the nurse called us back, Justin thought I might be too emotional to go in so I stayed in the lobby. (I tend to get anxious when it comes to our cats in cages and such) After 40 minutes, he asked me to come back into Largent's room. Our cat was not there, and I was informed they were doing an X-ray and then blood work. About 10 minutes later the doctor came in and said that he couldn't explain why Largent's condition had deteriorated so quickly but that he was barely breathing on his own and that his organs seems stressed. I don't remember much else about what he was explaining, I just know that he was saying in so many words, he's probably not going to make it through this. I just kept thinking I was letting him down. He was such an emotional cat and I wanted him to know that I was there. When the doctor asked if we wanted to see him again before we left, we looked at eachother for a moment before replying. Truthfully I was so scared, not knowing what state he might be in. But I knew there was no way I was leaving without petting him one last time. Laying on the table with tubes down his throat he looked at me, and I couldn't help but start crying. This cat, named after a Seattle Seahawks football star...was the reason that my husband and I became close. We adopted him together and we moved in together so that our cats would have company. He was from a shelter and had obviously been abused physically and emotionally. He had half a tail and abandonment issues. We loved and adored him and would often remark that he won the "cat lottery" with owners like us. When we moved out here to the desert he was so happy. Always staring at the birds outside. I would like to think that there was nothing I could've done today to save him. I cannot stop sobbing and thought posting these pictures might make me feel better.
He really loved to bury his face into the kitchen table and take naps
sorry some of these are sideways...

I am going to remember your fascination with shoes and feet. The way you would bury your face in the bottom of a shoe and go to sleep. I am going to remember the way your little toes trotted across the wood floors like tap shoes. I'm going to remember the way you loved the sunshine. I will always picture you rolling on your back near the window practically smiling. Hoping you know how much we loved you. R.I.P Largie.
Today the hubby and I decided to go daytripping an hour from our new house. We drove down some dirty backroads for less than an hour and landed in BIG BEAR! I have never been, and couldn't believe that the snow capped mountains and ski resort with giant lakes and mountains exists so close. We saw lots of cool little cabins and strange bear sculptures everywhere. I'm going to venture back there soon and explore all the little shops and weird bars. The drive is pretty EPIC, so many scary cliffs edge turns and winding streets. I think the altitude was around 6000 feet! Nothing like warm weather, a giant lake, and nothing to do for weeks and weeks ahead
One of my oldest friends came to visit us! She was in town for Coachella/work trip, and drove in to see our place, make us pasta and drink beer on the porch. We've been pals since the 2nd grade Catholic school days. She was not prepared for my Hubby's 2 mile hikes around the neighborhood. The landscape out here is pretty surreal, and the sunsets have been EPIC! Tonight is also a full moon, and let me tell you this one looks MASSIVE out here hanging in the sky. Justin just showed me a new app for the i-phone called StarWalk which is super cool...you can walk around pointing the phone toward the sky and it tells you where the zodiac signs are, the constellations and the planets.
This past week I was in Los Angeles for 24 hours. I had decided that I wanted to check out the new JUDITH SUPINE show at New Image Art. I've been a fan since seeing "her" work at Miami Art Aqua and my party days in Brooklyn (where wheat pasted neon faces adorned the walls of old brick buildings). Every inch of the gallery was covered in printed lips and huge cut outs of haunting faces - even the floor. Heavily made up ladyboys , most around 6 foot 6 were scattered all around the room in fabulous studded outfits.
gallery owner Marsea Goldberg!
at the end of the night, I ran into this "lady" waiting for the bus. She seems like she would've fit right in at the art show.
This is what happens when you spend a whole weekend with Cynthia listening to BLONDIE day and night. Watching videos of Blondie singing live in Europe...Atomic, Denis, One way or Another...Sunday Girl. It might also have something to do with discovering my VHS copy of FOXES with Cheri Currie as well. Hmmm. So far I am discovering that Blondes DO have more fun. I was dubious but I do feel more rebellious. Normally when I do things at the hair salon NO ONE even notices, but not this time. This one has stirred up some responses, my mother for instance said "hmmm, I don't think I like it" haha. A few friends have said they LOVE it and a few have said..."missing L.A. that much?" Ouch. Oh well...I'd rather be sporting crazy hair that provokes such dialogue then my old faithful hair.
might have to invest in some more black eye liner?
I donated a few pieces of my work this past week for a super group show to raise money for Japan. The art show will be up for 2 weeks at Urban Outfitters Space 1520 pop up shop. Donations from talented designers, artists and musicians are pouring in, including some of my all time favorites like Susan Cianciolo, Justin Van Hoy, Travis Millard, Mel Kadel, Ashley Macomber,Albert Reyes, Geoff Mcfetridge, and Frohawk-two feathers!
I have been to Japan a few times to do art shows and fell in love with the people, the country and the energy. Please try to come out for this and show your support!

I am starting to get used to the daily routine here. I wake up and drink an iced coffee, I look at pretty cactus plants and watch wild animals scurry past my yard. I have started to take long walks and generally end up catching a nap midday.I have been listening to my old records again, and checking out some of my old books. It's like a perpetual vacation mode that takes a little bit of getting used too. I find my brain trying to multitask things, attempting to organize things. Something about these long peaceful days that my brain is still unable to process. I want to finish setting up my art space and supplies and get down to creative business. These past 8 months I struggled to find alone time to make things. Inspiration is everywhere out here! Every day here is sort of like a Twin Peaks episode. There are cowboys, quilters, psychedelic artisans, mysterious drifters. So far I like all of them. I see interesting things all day that make me wonder why these other folks have dropped out of society and decided to make a nest here? I find myself having more genuine conversations, and am often fascinated by the locals handiwork. Some of my favorite things I have discovered within 5 minutes of my home are:
this guy created a crystal castle- sort of a volcanic molten home with glass peep windows to view clusters and caverns of crystals and rocks
The day before Cynthia and I ventured into Desert Hot Springs and Palm Springs...
Gypsyland had all kinds of treasures
saw this cool Picasso like sculpture in Palm Springs.
we drank sangria and ate giant hamburgers and checked out lots of little shops earlier in the day it actually SNOWED up at our house! so amazing!
when I wandered down the path and saw this enormous purple ape I asked "what's up with this?" and a local simply said "they just got it today and their filling it up with air" Ooops, my bad. I should have known grape apes are totally norm out here.
This past week the hubby and I had to drive back to L.A. to clear out the last of our things at the old place. It was bittersweet, considering we got married in that back yard...but also nice to know we have tons of new adventures ahead. Since I was going to be working the SHOW PONY sale at 1520 space on Sunday and he had a meeting for work on Monday, we decided to stay at the Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Blvd and relax. It felt like we were tourists in our own city! Here's some of the weekend highlights...
if you have never tried a Beard Papa pastry, do yourself a favor and indulge. I discovered these in Japan about 6 years ago. Highly addictive. This town has so many crazy characters roaming the streets. If I were a parent I would probably never let my kid near some of these costumed crazies.
Even though our trip was fun, it was sure nice to drive back to our desert place. There are no words to describe how awesome the sunsets are
did I mention that while in L.A. I decided to make my hair as crazy as the desert life? I decided what the hell- you only live once...
Sadly I can't even remember the last time I posted on my blog! But so many things have happened since, It has been one incredibly busy year working as the Costume Designer for 90210, getting married, and buying our first home. I have been exhausted! And I've missed posting on the Moldy Doily. I've been stockpiling images and cool things to share with you for months and months...but alas haven't had the time to post. Tomorrow I am driving up to Los Angeles to have a big MOVING away sale with all of my old Show Pony friends. The event is being held in the courtyard of 1520 Space near Urban Outfitters. Here's the SHOW PONY Gypsy sale info
I am getting rid of clothes, artwork, fun home decor and more! I am getting rid of about 75% of my belongings, and am so happy about the BIG move to Yucca Valley near Joshua Tree. I have been slowly getting our new house together and can't wait to start making artwork with my time off. The new art space has a huge window that faces the desert, and olive trees. Here are some images of what it looks like...
This is the guest bedroom! So relaxing and it faces the whole desert landscape. There is also a cute porch attached to the front of the guest room with its own door. I have been having so much fun potting plants and repainting furniture. We went into town today and found a cool flea market, and scored these 1950's wood chairs. They needed a good sanding, staining and then reupholstering. I LOVE the way they came out.
I love all the antique shops here in town. here's some pics I took while exploring... I finally feel like my brain is rebooting. I often wonder how to get started with all the things I have been putting off doing. I like this new feeling of being lighter. There has definitely been a great lift coming out here, less distractions. It was hard to empty that house these past few weeks, so many memories there in Echo Park for me. I found boxes of photos, past art show flyers, destroyed garments buried in boxes and was flooded with memories. While getting gas across the street from my old apartment, I couldn't help but stare up at the old fire escape and reminisce about my old friends...most who have moved away by now. It's strange getting older, being inspired by new things- and new places. It's good to finally be in a place where I can sit down and share all of the images I took this season. I look forward to these quiet days ahead, I've missed this.
I finally got a chance to watch the BLACK SWAN! I was blown away by Ms. Portman's performance. The Rodarte sisters costumes were incredible during all the dance scenes. The movie reminded me a bit of Roman Polanski's REPULSION. That same suspenseful, strange and mental crumble. Definitely a must see for those of you who haven't already seen it.
After seeing this I stumbled upon my friend Jessie's jewelry etsy site Vinny and Vernelle. She makes pieces that remind me of dancers
This past week my hubby and I ventured to Yucca Valley (Joshua Tree) with the keys to our new HOUSE! We drove through a crazy rain storm... roads experiencing flash flood conditions. We kept thinking "we must be insane" to drive through this weather. But all of that was quickly replaced with pure excitement when we winded around the last turn before our new driveway and our house on the hill. Not even grey skies and dismal winds could erase that happy feeling.
We had intended on only spending the night painting the walls and cleaning it all up, unfortunately we forgot the air mattress pump, the pillows, the blankets and other clothes. Um, yeah...we ended up at the local Walmart buying Snuggies, and strange sweatshirts and Tinkerbell fluffy P.J.s . We couldn't believe how sweet everyone in town was. It felt like we were somehow transported to the 1950's. Everyone saying hello, and the folks at the local Home Depot offering to help at every turn. We did not anticipate how difficult it is to paint all day and night. Our arms and backs were thrown by early eve. Mercury retrograde somehow was in full effect because we were stranded in the desert due to weather conditions and my I-Phone decided to crash and swallow my last month's photos and videos! Ouch
the best new house discoveries:
1. roadrunners running all around the back yard with wild rabbits
2. the Rib CO, cool old school bar and restaurant near our pad
3. The giant tub with jacuzzi jets!! that one was the best
Well, I did it. I can finally say that I made my hair a silly weird color. Of the zillion times I have changed my hair color, sadly I must confess I have always stayed in the "normal" palette. I had this desire to have frosting colored hair, and behold my new hair-- I do!
I am finally done with work until 2011! I look forward to re-introducing myself to my old pal "BED" where I can watch all the secret movie screeners sent over to me from the academy...like BLACK SWAN and the Fighter. This insane rainy Seattle like weather has also become my new best pal. Together we can get a lot of relax on.
XOXO Hope all of you are off Xmas shopping and finding fun stuff out there.
Finally my painting "the secret door" is available as a limited edition print by PCP (Poster Child Prints) You can snag a signed painting print with an official certificate Here http://posterchildprints.com/The-Secret-Door/
I have been working insane hours, yesterday clocked in from 6 a.m. and got home around 1:a.m. Yikes. I actually laid in my bed and felt it spin around and move like a magic carpet. Can't wait til the holiday break to finally rest and reboot. I am thinking of making a major hair change and have been sort of wanting to look more like a girl in one of my paintings
The past few weeks I have been shopping for bohemian and gypsy things for an upcoming episode. I discovered some incredible one of a kind pieces over at Golyester ----here in Los Angeles
Golyester Vintage Clothing and Textiles Specializing in 1900-1960′s 136 S. La Brea Ave. Los Angeles, CA 323.931.1339
There are so many unique pieces on my WISH list over there. Every single piece seems to have it's own magical history and story to tell. So if you ever wonder what gift to get me- any jewelry item in that place is fine by me!
My good friend LAURA KRANITZ works at Golyester and also makes incredible head pieces- like these ones which we are using for an up coming 90210 episode!
here's a little sneak peek where some of my bohemian finds will be found on this season's 90210

What can I say, I have never worked such long hours in my life! I pretty much wake up at around 5:00 a.m. and get home after 10 P.M daily. The lack of sleep is taking it's toll and I've obviously ceased to be a normal human being. The creative days have been harder to come by, and I feel ideas piling up in my brain. As you can see (with my lack of blog posts) I hardly have time to do laundry, mail things, go to the bank, or SLEEP. Ah, sleep my old dear friend who has not been around lately. On the plus side, I will admit I love the hustle and bustle of my job. T.V. production is nuts, but in that weird good way that keeps you on your toes. I have spent the past few months taking lots of pictures to post here but too exhausted to share them. I promise to get up to date soon and upload some new art work of mine to sell on my site. I just received a bunch of new pieces from some shows that I was in this year and need to make some space here at my house. So if you are in the market for some new art on your walls, look out for the new work posted to my etsy or website soon. I also have a painting print collaboration that will be available soon with PCP (poster Child Prints )- they are all certified and come on archival paper. Hope all of you have been enjoying your FALL season, my favorite time of year. Can't believe it's almost the holiday season already. XOXO
Photographer Alexandra Valenti takes the kind of pictures that seem painted with transparent colors and ignited with dream like hazy light. I found her images in this new leather look book and also some from her website.
So let's just admit that I am awful with time management lately. Or perhaps my lack of blog posts has been because I have zero free time to manage. If I am not shopping for the t.v. show I work on, then I am doing fittings, standing on set, researching clothing lines, stuck in traffic or sleeping. Life is good. On the plus side, I am working so much that I don't even have time to spend money or deposit my paychecks...so I am sort of stockpiling deposits for the bank. I will try to best sum up the past month or so for you all. First of all that Current Affair Sale was amazing. I swear the booths were packed with multi levels of awesome. I scored a hand painted clutch purse and a mossy green giant avant garde thin jacket with enormous pockets from SCOUT. I will try to take pics of them for you to see!
poor Laura had an awful Steaming injury preparing clothes for the sale...it looked like the E.R. might have been a good idea. If you get squeamish easy-scroll down to avoid this insane burn bubble
Designer Maxine Dillon!
After the Current Affair sale I was exhausted. Hauling racks of clothes on my day off is not really on my list of favorite weekend activities. I mustered enough energy to attend the L.A. ladies choir event at FAMILY book store. My pal Cynthia invited us, and we wanted to show our support.
Here I am sporting my new bangs, which I have realized are quite the commitment. No one told me that I would have to actually buy a dryer and use products to keep them down. I realize that I miss my old messy tumbleweed hair after all. Something about no style is appealing to me as I get older and wiser. I don't like waking up with giant winged bangs. My pal Laura decided to dye her dark brown locks and make them ash blonde. It's a cool new change
Becky Stark and Aska are the founders of the lovely ladies choir. The place was packed.
Back at work we have been shopping for lots and lots of fabulous dresses and shoes for the cast of 90210. It's been a whirlwind season and we are almost half way done with season 3. It's been great going on location and watching how all the components come together from the various departments. These Valentino shoes were magical
isabel marant stone pebble cuff
my friend Annakim has been wearing the vampire t-shirt I made for her around town. Doesn't she look awesome!?
Other than working all the time, I've been enjoying my new married home life. The hubby and georgie boy have been spending loads of time together. Check out the latest pics of these two guys lastly...Mr. H and I went back out the desert to explore sweet getaway homes and fell in love with an all new spot. As you may recall the last one we fell in love with fell through. We had fallen hard for that spot with the kidney shaped pool and hot tub and magical views, but the owner decided to take it off the market. They say everything seems to happen for a reason and now we have stumbled upon a whole new place that has a cool creative energy. Fingers crossed that we land this adorable abode so that we can disappear out of L.A. when we need rest and relaxation. Here's a sneak peek at the new place-
VIEWS for miles and miles
I am dying to sit on the porch and drink coffee and make artwork in the garage without any distractions. Well, I wouldn't mind a visit from a roadrunner or rabbit.

Thanks to all of you who posted comments on my last blog post, I truly appreciate all the support. I have been feeling so much better! I absolutely love my job, even though the hours are insane. I attended a cool 9-02-10 party this past week hosted by the Buzzgirls for the creative ladies of the CW. It was so nice to get dressed up and dash off to a cocktail party on a "school night". The one good thing about working long hours is that you really appreciate a holiday weekend. I spent the day hanging out with my husband, shopping and eating lunch and getting my hair cut! That's right, I finally decided to shake things up a bit and hacked off the front of my hair. Seeing 6 inch pieces hit the floor was a bit intense, but my decision to dye it darker tomorrow might be even crazier! Wish me luck. IT all started when I spied these pictures of model Freja Beha. (that's right, I said "model", what the hell am I thinking attempting a similar face framing haircut??)
This haircut might not work for me, but I might risk it anyways.
Hope you are all having a relaxing and creative LABOR DAY!
here's also a video link that I forgot to post from my ROOMS show curated by Roger Gastman for SCION. The show was back in April or May, but they just sent me over this not too long ago...ROOMS/KIME Buzzelli
I must admit that my time away from the moldy doily has been hectic! Not only have I been constantly working (sometimes even on my weekends) but a few crazy things have happened as well. For one: my friend who lives in Ithaca NY discovered that I have an ART STALKER/Thief! It was the strangest thing, some 39 woman who lives in Ithaca, NY named Angela Strawberry Curls decided to post paintings of mine on her facebook and her blog and pretend that SHE made them. I almost couldn't believe it, but then my pal sent me the links and indeed this girl Strawberry Curls had posted over 20 drawings and paintings of mine where she took credit for creating them. Included in this odd finding were paintings I have sold to friends, my Flaunt magazine cover art, even the Show Pony closing flyer! Totally strange and obviously recognizable. She even stole some that I sold on etsy and have the receipt of selling and sending. The creepiest part was that she would elaborate on her page about her inspiration making them, use the same titles and mention how she indeed made this one "just this week!" I have some of the paintings here on my blog where I am actually standing in front of them painting them myself. Worse than all that, she then reprinted some of my paintings on paper and exhibited them in an art show in Ithaca at some coffee shop called Kitschen Sink. She had some of them hanging amongst her own things. The actual flyer to the show was my art work: she had taken this flyer from show pony and painted over the text and then used my moldy doily post category "things that inspired desire" as the show title!
I can't imagine her own friends and family believed that all of a sudden she switched from ceramic tiles to possessing a huge body of work: MINE. Years and years of my hard work stolen in an instant and claimed by someone else. I will admit the night my friend sent over the links to this girl my heart went racing and my hands started shaking. I was terrified and confused. Wondering if she was some delusional person. I had hoped she was a teenager and perhaps got carried away with my identity and liked that people were commenting on her pages, but when I discovered she was 39 I nearly fainted. She had not innocently make a few postings, but countless times took credit for my paintings and even made references to why she has been into this new subject matter, the lolita syndrome etc...
I have friends who screen captured all of her sites and since this will now be a legal matter I have given them to my lawyer. She has since made access to her facebook site private and has deleted her blog but continues to do art shows in Ithaca, NY as Angela Strawberry Curls. She supposedly has one tonight at Ithacamade. Her own mother wrote me back and said that I must be "confused" and that her daughter didn't claim my work but was merely inspired by it, but trust me I have the screen captured pages as proof that she did.
Here is her version from the flyer: she titled it SWOON
The screen capture in it's entirety (with my lawyer) has a bunch of comments under this painting of mine where she talks in detail of her inspiration for making this, as and when people exclaim that they love this one did she paint this. she responds Si Si lovelies I indeed did. (I made this one in 2006 and currently hanging in my friend's home)
Since all of this has gone down combined with my long hours at work I have had some stressful weeks...resulting in stomach bleeding, migraines and eventually dehydrated collapse last Saturday. I couldn't stop throwing up and my husband found me on the floor almost unable to breathe. Weirdly my arms went completely numb and he ended up calling 911. So an ambulance ride later and an I.V. and cat scan and some rest and I was sent home before nightfall. Still trying to figure it all out! I am feeling better this week and have missed posting on here and missing all of my creative friends I have met through this blog adventure.
My dearest friends, I am sorry for the long pause and huge delay in posting! I started back to work in mid June and have been on the fast track to zero sleep and 80 hour work weeks. I must admit that I am truly grateful for this incredible opportunity and obsessed with my new job. It's great working with a fabulous creative team every day and getting fashion puzzles solved on the daily. The commute is the only downer. Usually it's about an hour every morning and 45 minutes when I am leaving. If any of you have any great suggestions for cool designers, awesome ebay or etsy listings or things you think would look great on the screen feel free to let me know. We are already getting ready for episode 5, time is just flying by. This is going to be a fun season!
I am going to let the universe know that I have a plan for my future. And I imagine it to go something like this someday...heavenly blue skies, magical stars, garden spaces, shelves of art supplies, my creative partner J by my side taking walks and sharing the quiet
sometimes you have to imagine yourself already doing it. Sometimes you have to see yourself creating things in new spaces and really believe the seeds you plant will grow into something. Say a prayer that this fantasy becomes my artistic reality in the near future. XO
Those ladies in Brooklyn sure know how to throw a fun anniversary party! As I posted previously, I have some art pieces on the walls of a cool boutique in Brooklyn called The Banquet. I had forgotten how sticky and humid NYC is in June. I secretly love the insane heat out there. The two owners of The Banquet, Miranda and Pam showed up at the airport (my flight came in at 1:00 a.m.) in a cute Zip car. I give mad props to anyone who dares drive in the city. I jumped into the car and it was like we had all known each other forever. They even got lost a few times (must be true friends of mine). The shop itself is adorable and in a cute neighborhood in Brooklyn.
my art seemed right at home against the white brick walls and neon flower arrangements. Pam's creates the one of kind jewelry and Miranda custom makes dresses and things-made to order in any fabric swatch color of the customer's choosing!
This girl (above) was wearing old school GUESS jeans, and obviously doing them serious justice. I think Guess would approve of her selling the look
Derin and Ellie came out for the party! And down below my childhood friend Lauri and her parents came to represent from OHIO
I fell in love with Ellie's Egyptian print bag.
on our way back to the lower East side we ran into this cool crotchet knit bike. We ended up going to a bar called St. Jerome's and saw Lady Gaga sitting at the bar. I guess her old boyfriend is the bartender. She looked cute, wearing a hair scarf and little shorts. All the ladies from the party ended up dancing til 3:00. Pam and I made ourselves popcorn and mac and cheese at 3:15. Nice way to end the evening
Back at Pam's place, I found lots of inspiring books and decorations. She has really cool style. She also told me that she used to live near the desert in California and found lots of cool things at local thriftshops. I always love embroidered things and cool pastel portraits
One of the embroidery books had a catalog of unique artists and some of the work was amazing. I especially loved this nude scene: I also fell in love with this street art- graffiti off of rivington
I am leaving for Brooklyn soon and wanted to let everyone in NYC know that I will be doing an art show collaboration with the store THE BANQUET. I printed some napkins for the dinner party with my art. I think it's been almost 2 years since I visited NY. Here is the press release for the fancy affair...
theBANQUET boutique, located at 360 Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn, is pleased toannounce
that they will be hosting a party on June 5thto celebrate their one year anniversary, featuring an installation of the Los Angeles based artist Kime Buzzelli’s work.“We’ve been fans and collectors of Kime’s for years and are so honored to have the opportunity to collaborate with her in our own shop. It has been such an incredible year and we couldn’t think of anyone better to help us celebrate.“
The event will feature a playful spread of Buzzelli’s dreamy, whimsical portraits, limited edition Plume bow belts and candy inspired necklaces, and Miranda Bennett’s Lady Luck Dress, designed just for the occasion, all in Buzzelliinspired colors and fabrics. Floral elements will be styled by the Brooklyn based duo, Quatre Ceour. Handmadelinen napkinsbytheBANQUETand Kime Buzzelli, will also be available for purchase.
For the evening only, a discount of 20% will be offered on Bennett and Johnston's Buzzelli inspired pieces.
This will mark Buzzelli’s first show in New York City in some time and her first collaboration with both Bennett and Johnston.
The Banquet is the collaboration of designers and friends Miranda Bennett and Pamela Johnston. The store exclusively houses Bennett's women's clothing line, Miranda Bennett Design, and Johnston's jewelry collection, Plume. Together the pair also select seasonal themes for their Archive line of vintage clothing, books, and home goods (currently they are exploring anAnnie Halltheme).
The Banquet name borrows from the idea of a communal, celebratory feast, much like the salons of the early 20th century. The pair have borrowed from this concept both with their monthly dinner parties where they converse with friends from the design and arts community, and in their approach to merchandising the store in the style of a lavish buffet. On any given day, one will find either Johnston or Bennett hosting customers in the shop.
The party will be held Saturday, June 5thfrom 6 – 9 pm attheBANQUET, 360 Atlantic Avenue b/t Hoyt & Bond in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. Champagne and treats will be served.
Most of you old time Doily readers will remember my oldest Los Angeles pal Justin "D.J. Kutmah" McNulty. He has been in my life from the early art days of eating potato chips for dinner and budget cars. He has recently been placed in a holding cell awaiting deportation. I can't believe this is happening to him. He is not only like my brother, he is a creative force in this community. His music and art have been a huge inspiration for so many people. His whole story is listed at this link, and info for donating to the cause is also listed HERE! Please read it! The update is HERE
This JUNE 3rd, a benefit is being held at the Echoplex: if you can't attend please send a paypal donation to the Hit/n/Run fund for him B@brandyflower.com
This was our first funny photoshoot (our pal Derin shot us as a carnival couple)
I first met Justin in 1998 when he was working as the manager at Jet Rag Vintage shop on La Brea. We formed a friendship because I constantly put clothes on hold that I never came back and bought. In late 98 he came and applied for a job at Wasteland where I was working. We immediately became great pals and hung out everyday running around the city taking photos, watching David Lynch movies, making silkscreens, thrifting and eating really bad food (like donuts). He has helped me through countless breakups, breakdowns and disasters. He has carried me when I couldn't walk. He had my back in all situations and saved me from numerous jams (broken down cars, house sitting, caregiver when I had my tumor surgery etc...) We once figured out our astrological charts and realized that we were completely opposite each other on the zodiac chart. Ying and yang creative friendship force! When he freaks out, I am calm and vice versa. The kid is a genius, I adore him and can't imagine my life here without seeing him. It literally breaks my heart in a million pieces. And since the case was denied being reopened, he will inevitably be forced to go back to a country that he hasn't lived in since he was 11, where he has no connections or home. I beg that you come to this event if you can, or please donate to his paypal acct to help him have some money to get his life started. He has been stuck in that holding cell in a room with a bunch of other men since I was home in Ohio. That is almost a whole month. Its almost to much for me to process, and I have been crying a lot thinking about his situation. I was holding out hope for the case to get overturned, but since that has been ruled out, the only thing I can do is make sure he gets back on his feet. He survived his entire house burning down in 2007, and I wrote this POST about how lucky I felt that he was alive. The firefighters couldn't believe he made it out in time
Hard to believe I saved this guy from a high kill shelter only 3 years ago! It seems like we've been together forever. Here's the link from my first post when I met him: Georgie Boy! June first 2007 was his official move in day, and the vet guessed his age back then to be around 8 years old. So that means my little friend is about 11. Everyday he amazes us and makes us laugh. He follows us from the minute we wake up and curls up in our laps the second we sit down. He comes trotting down the hall when called, and can hear a snack bag open, even while asleep on another level.
I will admit that I have been a little jealous since Georgie has fallen madly in love with my husband and prefers his lap over mine. They hang out and watch t.v. together like old pals. Cat nip cake is being prepared, and since he already receives the "king" treatment everyday, it will be hard to top our usual fanfare. This is what I caught him doing on his big birthday...
There is something hypnotizing about the desert air. I swear its one of the only places where my entire insides melt, and relax. Leaving L.A. and venturing only 2 hours away to experience pure bliss makes me lucky. The weather was perfect, warm and enveloping dry heat. This was the first time for my friend Danielle (she came all the way from Ohio!) We forgot to bring all of our board games and entertainment, and yet still managed to have a blast. From ghost adventures in the dark backyard of our adobe (Justin swore he witnessed a floating head- I mean white owl flutter by) to creating home made mad libs and watching our pals put together a puzzle. It was the perfect place to eat the wedding left overs and drink wine.
Originally we were supposed to get married at 29 Palms Inn, my favorite desert get away spot. I love Irene's Adobe so much, and the yard is truly magical. Wild flowers and cactus galore, and unique furniture and tiles inside would've made a beautiful wedding setting. My only reason for doing it in our backyard instead was that I knew we could get more friends to witness our vows at home. The landscape out there is so faded and lovely that it would have made a wedding picture perfect...so trust me if anyone is better at planning a wedding escape out there- you should look into the 29 Palms inn.
Danielle (above) before her feather necklace was eaten by a horse in the desert. That's right, it was swiped right off her neck and gobbled down...who knew hippie feathers made such a yummy snack?
We never wanted to leave this place. It was like we were on summer vacation for the first time.
The night time in Joshua Tree is incredible! You can see a zillion stars in the sky and the air is windy and warm. I think this picture above of Cynthia is my favorite that I took. You know you have great friends when they are willing to go away to the middle of no place with you and hang out all night. We scared ourselves by talking about spooky movies, creepy ghost stories and eventually were terrified to go to sleep. Danielle ended up piling furniture against her door and tacking up a giant blanket so no one could spy on her.
First of all, you have to just throw away all of the thoughts in your head that are saying..."it can't be done in two days". And then relax and just go for it. Here's how it all went down for us, first we drove downtown to find a wedding band for him. We walked around the jewelry district and ate cafeteria style at Cliftons. Then I went to Golyester where my friend Laura works and tried on lots and lots of dresses. I found a pretty 1930's lace dress with potential and bought it. I found Justin a spring grey jacket (he wanted to wear his shorts). We drove to East L.A. to get the marriage license. That was probably the hardest part of the process, and took 2 hours.
Lucky for me, I have amazing friends & family who are super talented in sewing/designing, floral arranging, catering, BBQing, decorating, and planning a party within 24 hours! The cake above was from local bakery Delilah's, RED VELVET with exotic wild flowers that Fran stuck on top
here I am the night before getting the dress fitted!
here's the PRE- wedding pictures- (the early re-designing the dress stages) My friend Danielle and I went down to my friend Niki's studio, where the original dress was cut up and some FLAIR was added. Niki and I originally started the Show Pony together out of our messy apartments...and 10 years ago we used to sew clothes on ourselves and wear them for funny photo shoots.
this picture above was captured right before niki and I shared a teary eyed- John Hughes wedding moment. There was this exciting moment where we both felt like we knew someday we would be doing this, working on a dress together again.
my pal Laura Kranitz made me an awesome headpiece to wear to the wedding
I ran off to the Eagle Rock Macys to snag a pair of sparkly silver shoes (don't ask me why...just had one hour before the ceremony to find something for my feet!)
With hardly any time to spare we told our friends who live nearby to swing by if they wanted to witness our vows at 5! Our friend Jeaneen's mother drove in to officiate the ceremony.
the VOWS: click on image to watch them (only took 10 minutes )
signing the important papers to become the new MRS. H! Sweet
Tossing the bouquet! My friend Kathryn caught it (after the second try, cause my first throw landed in the rose bushes)
the groom made a batch of his special BBQ ribs, which were a huge HIT! They vanished in no time at all
Cutting the CAKE!

I couldn't have asked for a magical amazing wedding day. The entire thing was completely stress free. My friends helped make food, arrange flowers, and even apply some makeup on me. Almost every aspect was natural and effortlessly easy. My only regret would be that I didn't have some of my favorite people in attendance...like family and my best guy friend Kutmah (who has been dealing with an awful deportation drama) It took all my strength to not break down into tears at the alter when the minister mentioned taking a moment of silence for all the people who have passed or are unable to be with us on our special day. Justin (Kutmah) McNulty is my oldest pal here in L.A. and he's like a brother to me. We all gave him a toast.
So it's official, I am a married woman! It's been so nice becoming part of a team.I promise to share some of the pics from our adventure out to Joshua Tree next.
Ohio is so amazing! That's right, those are real live turkeys in the trees! Pretty polka dotted creatures roaming the Ohio landscape. Mr. H (fiance) and I flew into Cleveland May 3 for the formal family introductions. We were super excited for the warm windy weather and my sister's Alpaca farm.
These furry creatures are so darn cute! It's surreal standing next to them. They remind me of lambchop the puppet.
Did I mention that when we arrived in the driveway we were greeted by my sister's GIANT great dane dog!? He is the size of a small Shetland pony and has a funny leaning fetish. Which translates to slowly pushing you back until you almost tip over. His name is Brutus and he also loves bucking like a bronco in the yard tearing up stuffed animals. Which explains the snow like cotton remnants strewn all over the front yard.
We decided to explore the backyard (6 acres of lovely terrain including a pond, a bridge over a creek and lots of spooky trails) Of course no one warned us about the "TICKS" until it was too late and everyone had a few new friends clinging to their flesh.
my niece Sedona took us to the horse farm where she rides. She adores horses in that amazing 14 year old girl way.
First night in town we decided to go bowling. Everyone was doing pretty well, strikes all around
I love my sister and niece so much! It was so fun going out with them
Sedona and I used the signature Grannystyle bowl between the legs. I got a strike doing it! She got yelled at by the bowling alley attendant for crossing the line. So serious about bowling there
The next day was pretty epic, the weather was super duper hot in downtown Cleveland where we met up with my dad a.k.a. Padre Ron to see an Indians Baseball game. We had rad seats super close to the first base. I realized that people in Cleveland really like to drink in the daytime. Hard for me to keep up
my dad bought us both a Cleveland sports shirt ( I was gonna get the Cleveland is major one...but opted for a metallic gold LeBron James MVP one)
while in downtown Cleveland, I decided to call 411 and see if my old high school pal Tommy was listed. An hour later he showed up and it was as if no time at all has passed. He once took me to the Prom as a friend (he wore Converse and I wore big heavy metal hair). He was also the guy that helped me steal my mother's car out of her work parking lot . We drove all the way to Chicago so that I could see my boyfriend. Which resulted in a major grounding from my father.
notice how my fiance and my father have opposite skin tones-- my father is sort of the George Hamilton of Ohio
Notice the sweet looking faces that my nephews have, and don't be fooled. These lil demons are all about putting gum in my hair, breaking things and killing butterflies. (in his defense, he said that butterfly "was a bad one") They also like to hide out in the center of bushes. If I was ever considering children, this trip may have been the dealbreaker
Mr. H and I were super excited to road trip to Columbus to see my art school pal Danielle and her family. It was nice having someone to share the ride with and to point out things on the road that are cool. Considering I have driven this route a zillion times when I was a student.
We went on a quick tour of all the amazing streets I used to live on in Victorian Village and then explored German village
DANIELLE! We must have seemed obnoxious to my fiance, because we were up to our old art school chatty prankster selves, and HAD to visit all of our old haunts and hallways from college days. to put it mildly we are sort of like a Laurel and HArdy/ Laverne and Shirley duo.
Our art school advisor and teacher happened to be roaming the art wing as well!
This crazy hair sculpture reminded me of my old art work. The teacher above once said to me..."I think someday you will be famous, either for your art or for being a serial killer" nice?
here's me in the old elevator from the art building. Back when we were in school, it was coated in gravity, dripping in paint and seedy lighting. My how things have cleaned up over here
Danielle's son Lucas wanted to have a Beatles JAM session with Uncle Justin. They rocked out some Nirvana too. this rad 4 year old actually requested for his mom to put "Joy Division" in and play song #9 (love will tear us apart...)
this whole trip we got to "try out" what being a family with kids feels like. It has some perks. Like getting to order the kid size homemade icecream at Jeni's. This place in the short north arts district has the most unique and incredible flavors & DELIVERS! Check out the website H E R E
We went into this cool Vintage shop on High Street called Mad 4 Mod Vintage
They had rooms and rooms of vintage things to wear and for decorating
they have an ebay store with the same name.
we went up to the new USED KIDS RECORDS to spy some cool local music and flyers
Our pal Joel from the music scene- who has an online music zine called CRINGE
the entire two days in Columbus went by fast, probably because the high 80 temp and swirling tornado winds made it exciting.
(notice the above photo has a photo effect called "magazine" setting--or as I like to call it...we somehow made your face look amazing )
Here's me and the Mr. in front of the Blue Danube Greek Restaurant mural. Back in the day I spent most of my time playing songs on the juke box and eating greek salad (occasionally playing pinball)
I totally forgot that O.S.U. is really a town of 20 year olds! We did our best to fit in The next day (fighting some tough hangovers) we went over to my Uncle's house to meet up with the "Buzz" side of the family. It was so nice seeing my cousin and her family and watching all of the blonde boys (there were like five of them under the age of 9) race around the house tearing the place apart. The adults were so busy chatting that on occasion we would remember to check up on them, and find them playing games such as: Try to hold onto the stairs while the rest of us push you down them, and lay a rubber raft across two twin beds and try to cross it without falling (or breaking an arm on the dresser) My favorite moment was when the house had gotten quiet and we noticed all 5 boys racing around the freezing wet grass without shoes. If this is parenting, sign me up! Just like the old days when our parents let us explore without them. If you wiped out in my childhood days my mom would say, Well why on Earth would you do that anyways? or "That's what you get..."
Are little boys destined to break some limbs before adulthood? What funny games they play at that age
notice how the adults avoid the kid activity?
This was no ordinary Saturday, this also marked the first weekend following my mother's breast cancer surgery...& my father and mother being in the same place voluntarily as friends. It used to be War of the Roses back then, so progress is always appreciated. there was a lot of snacking going on (especially in Dylan's world) Every time we turned around he had somehow managed to score another tasty treat from the fridge or cupboard. But he was so adorable with his innocent big eyes, that we never refused him.
kids love Uncle J
Plastic lids are way more fun when you are this age.
my father remarried and has two boys, so now I am the way more older sister. My kid brother says he prefers to be called "bug boy" and carries around his encyclopedia of insects. My sister (the tomboy) was the exact same way.
After all the festivities, Mr. H and went back to our luxurious hotel room. He decided to swim in the pool for a little bit. When I joined him there was a guy in the hot tub nearby. As we left to go back to our room, we noticed he had run up to the glass to check us out. Down the hall we noticed he was briskly following us. I have seen enough Unsolved Mysteries and Law and Order to sniff out a weirdo. We entered the room and I figured that was the end of him. But while I was in the bathroom, he knocked on the door (dripping wet in his boxer shorts and shaking) He asked J "hey do you guys wanna hang out for a minute?" To which J replied, "no thanks" and shut the door. He then heard a door slam nearby. I was sort of freaked out by the encounter and told him to warn the front desk lady that this guest seemed "on something". When he mentioned that a guest staying in our wing knocked on the door, she replied "Um Sir you guys are the only guests down that wing". We decided we wanted to switch rooms. The police were notified and we had to meet them in the lobby. To be honest I was terrified to carry all my stuff down that long hallway (think The Shining). The cops said they knew exactly who it was based on our description and said he was a mentally ill man who often knocks on hotel doors and disturbs guests. Later that night we heard he came back and the cops set up a sting and arrested him. The whole strange incident added a weird Hollywood element to the Ohio trip
aside from the hotel weirdo, this was a totally fun getway! I forgot how fun it can be running around a yard, driving on a highway lined with tall trees and hugging your family and friends. Mr. H seemed to fall in love with all the same things I adore in this underdog city. I miss this place and the people that I grew up with. It was so nice being able to introduce my future mate to old friends. It's like no time has passed when we start talking and reminiscing.
So the past few weeks have been a colorful BLUR to say the least. I have been in a bunch of awesome group art shows (above is the SCION Rooms show which runs til may 15th) After that one I had to gear up for my trip to SF for the closing party at Candy Store Collective. My cohort in crime Marcella drove all the way from L.A.!
too bad we didn't have more time to shop around this cool city. Candystore Collective had the coolest work staff and was way bigger than I imagined. They had my art banners in their front windows! I of course forgot to take a picture of that, but trust me it looked super from the street.
cool kitty about to eat marcella
this candystore collective employee sort of matched the colors in the art work The shop owner above: Jennifer! Let me just say that closing party night was FAB. They created a drink called "the Buzzelli" which was part Vodka + Aperol + Lychee syrup- lime juice and ice- yum. So many of my old friends who have migrated to SF came by to visit. I also got to meet some rad fans of my artwork and sign some prints. The entire room was filled with sweet, smart and lovely ladies from San Francisco. When my pal Marcella mentioned to the locals she had considered moving up there, the response was overwhelming. "Are you crazy! if you are single you will have the hardest time finding a man here" Or "check out this crowd, notice 24 cool creative woman for every one man . One of her pals admitted that most men were either already dating, gay, a douche in the dot com field or married. We thought this was all very funny, and kept trying to spy local men who appeared "available". As the night progressed we noticed that the single straight men did have a smug expression when spotted...as if muttering aloud " that's right ladies, you practically just spotted a unicorn" It was like that scene in Xanadu where the ladies escape from the mural, but in this version there were only 12 single attractive men leashed into the scene and if you were lucky you might spot or land one. (made me grateful to be so lucky in love)
Jennifer and I meeting was pretty cosmic. We are both Scorpios, both own (owned) boutiques with similar vibes, believe in Ghosts, love organic and precious knick knacks, and have low patience levels. It was fun to fly up to another city for less than 24 hours and try to pack in some nightlife and fun. We ended up walking around and eating late night burritos as big as my arm. At the end of the evening I ventured to the East Bay with Jennifer to stay at her amazing house. And when I say "amazing" I mean drop dead stunning home that should be used daily for photo shoots and relaxing dinners. Her place was even featured in the San Francisco chronicle HERE
Sleeping in a lovely room with a cute 60's fireplace that has a light up psychedelic log and enormous cloud like comforter was like heaven. I wanted to stay in that house forever. And I must admit it was the first time I could picture living in a mid century style home and desired building one just like it someday...
this amazing head dress was from a bride (some exotic travel purchase)
anyway, the pictures speak for themselves- this place is crazy amazing. And Jennifer is the best hostess, with obviously mad personal style. It was hard for Marcella and I to hit the road and leave the backyard with sweet smelling jasmine. But we had Anderson's to look forward to, the rest stop diner with the funny pea soup billboard
MY goodness, this drive is so pretty! We had the best time listening to satellite radio new wave classics and cruising. When we left Anderson's famous pea place- we accidently entered the wrong freeway ramp and were headed in the wrong direction for 15 minutes, ha ha.
seems we might have to take more fun road trips out of L.A. in the future. although it was fun up in SF, I will confess It was nice to return home to these handsome faces on Friday.
this monday- I take the fiance home to OHIO to meet the family!
ARTIST'S PARTY. Kime will be in attendance with limited edition hand painted tote bags and one-of-a-kind frocks. Cocktails will be flowing and DJ announced shortly.
Kime Buzzelli is a Los Angeles based painter, illustrator, costume designer and former owner of beloved Echo Park boutique, Show Pony. Her artwork is inspired by fashion, film, music, make believe, mysteries and voyeurism. Fantastical portraits of women are layered on heavy papers using watercolors and markers to invoke dreamlike moments.
This Saturday night I am participating in a group show curated by Roger Gastman in collaboration with Scion- where each artist builds out their own art installation room. This is going to be a fun show, so if you are in L.A. try to come out for it at the address HERE! I was inspired by the notion of magic, paranormal, slumber parties, young girls experimenting with tarot cards, witchcraft and time travel. I have always been in awe of movies like Picnic at Hanging Rock, and of course Twin Peaks, where strange things transpire and something mystical and weird occurs in the woods or around rock formations. The paintings are all portraits of these young women and each has a name drawn underneath. Sort of the ladies of a hidden hideout (Coven).
My pal Marcella helped me paint, install, harness, string up and hang the show! She also helped me find the best bewitching oils and candles. weirdly we both showed up today wearing black and white dresses, creepy? And in some of the first photos we shot of the space, there were light orbs. hmmmm?
before the paint job...
Hoping to see you at the show! XO There are some cool rooms in the show
The other day I finally ventured into the backyard and attempted to organize my art space. I think some part of me feared that it would take a million years, or that I wouldn't like working out there without the cats or t.v. But it was heaven! I painted for over 8 hrs back there, drinking tea.
I have been really grateful for all the good things that have come into my life during this year, and while out in my studio listening to Pandora Radio and painting, I found myself smiling really big. I was listening to cat power which turned into the Shins which turned into joy division and I found myself singing and thinking- "HOW DID WE MAKE THIS HAPPEN? I am in a cool space with all of my favorite art supplies and on the walls are layered tear sheets and posters and out the window I can see my fiance working on the yard and rose garden. This is super fantastic, and for this moment in time I am going to soak up this happy blissful feeling. In a few weeks we go home to visit my family in Ohio. Which I am so excited about and scared, since my mom just found out she has breast cancer and will be dealing with a lot of doctor visits and stuff. Please keep her in your thoughts
the view from my art space window! From the front there are 3 french doors that face out towards our house.
Look who's enjoying the house all to themselves...
P.S. Thanks to all of you Moldy Doily readers who have helped me pick out some wedding dresses! I really appreciate it
The show on Saturday night was AWESOME! Lots of my favorite artists and friends came out for the opening. When I walked in to the gallery, the lovely Marisa Tomei was standing in the room with my paintings. Here's some pics from the party
later on we hung out with our pal georgie boy. Who desperately needs a lions cut
I have still been under the weather and am not sure how to shake this bug. My doctors said it was simply bad allergies. Hmmm, I have never had those before
Guess who's in an ART opening this weekend? Super excited to show my work alongside some GREAT female artists. The show is over here in Echo Park at Subliminal Projects (corner of sunset & Elysian) Here's what the space looked like today as some of the artists were dropping off and organizing. Dee Dee Cheriel is co-curating the event.
My new work has some electric colors: and is shot totally out of focus-whoops
Above is artist JESSIE Spears painting her wall/installation. She is uber RAD and worth coming to the show for. Below is a small peek at a collaboration between Swoon and Monica Canilao
I'm still pretty sick with some insane spring flu-bug. But am hoping to have a full recovery by Saturday, because I am not missing this. Lots of artists + good vibes and all for a great cause
Sometimes it takes a trip to someplace where it's raining, windy and grey to appreciate the things sparkling outside of your window every single day.
Despite the wicked wind storm in Seattle, I had an amazing vacation from L.A.! I went to meet the rest of my fiance's family and see his favorite haunts. While packing I innocently asked, "should I bring a jacket?" He laughed and said it was as cold as it can be without actually snowing. I ended up getting a crazy stomach flu on day 2, and could barely stand...let alone drink, eat or walk about. But ever the trooper, I managed to make it through the weekend and even politely ate a slab of lasagna. Being someplace new and seeing tons of pics of your future husband when he was a little kid was definitely worth it!
Seeing my future father-in-law's Rubik's Cube collection was pretty RAD.He plays a ton of instruments and watches 90210 (in support ) His wife took me around Olympia's antique malls and Shipwreck Beads (a bead store about 4 football fields long!) Playing Scrabble, eating Rhubarb pie and playing with his sister's baby was exactly what I needed to take my mind off all the things I have to do back in L.A.
On day 3, when I was really feeling bulldozed by my stomach flu cramps, my fiance decided to stay up with his old bandmate and drink wine + vodka + whiskey + scotch and level the playing field. We both woke up Easter Sunday with the same pain. When I asked him if there was anything that I could get him he simply mumbled "how about a time machine?"
I also forgot to mention that on our drive from the airport into Seattle, we heard Nirvana's Smells like Teen Spirit (right as we rounded the bend and first caught site of the space needle. I was blown away til later when I found out that its actually played every 11 minutes on that station
I almost forgot my rad Seattle Storm souvenir mug that he and his sis gave me upon landing in the airport! This thing can hold about 2.5 cups of super strong Seattle Coffee. I can't wait to take him home to OHIO and introduce him to my family!
It's hard to imagine that so many years have come and gone. The time just flies by faster and faster as we get older. Today my dear childhood friend would have reached that milestone birthday. Perhaps we would've shared a funny joke about it on "facebook" or talked for hours on the phone to catch up. This morning as I am about to gather my stuff together to speak in front of a room full of people I am going to try and harness the bravery and confidence that she always had, and take that feeling with me. I think sometimes in life we are drawn to people because they are something that we are not, or can say the things we wish we could say. I know that she amazed me with her daring ideas and loyalty. I miss her, and realize that my blog has been around to see four more years pass. Happy Birthday Cindy
Just booked my flight to Seattle to visit the Fiance's family! Can't wait to check out all the places that my man has talked about for ages. It's going to be nice to finally get out of L.A. and be officially UNABLE to be reached by work and stress
check it out! If you are near San Francisco this Thursday night please go and check out my work. I will be attending the CLOSING art party for this April 29th (at the end of the month before it's taken down) And will be bringing limited ed prints and clothes. XOXO
The boys have been enjoying their leisure time in the new home. They spend days slumbering in the window sunshine and playing hide and seek. Occasionally they invite their canine pal Carlos over for some t.v. time. They have accepted him into their snug circle because "for a dog" he is pretty cool and plays with cat toys too.
It amazes me every day how lucky we are to have such strange and entertaining creatures as pets.

The time has come to let go of some more stuff. Spring cleaning time has arrived. If I sat all day and posted the things I have to unload for 24 hours a day, it would still take a week to clean house. I figured some of these things might be good for you readers, so here is the link to my ebay shop SHOW PONY
I apologize to you loyal moldy doilies who have written me questions lately and for not responding soon enough...finally more time is on my side- so I promise to be more on top of the posts and ready with responses!
After a week of brutal Pilates classes (for those of you who don't know me, I will confess I am the least flexible person on the planet) Being an amateur at yoga, and all other exercise classes, I was unprepared for the amount of creepy stress and agitation that pours from the hip sockets and shoulders. I have been an emotional crab face since attending classes and have found myself weeping at sappy sitcoms for no apparent reason. On the plus side I can barely sneeze or walk, which means I am utilizing muscle groups that I have never used!
This time off is finally about to get productive, which is good considering I have an upcoming wedding (poorly planned for sure) and a house to "officially" settle into.
Anyone growing up in the 80's will acknowledge that actor Corey Haim was a true talent. He was sort of a Robert Pattinson of the MTV era kids. He was even in a vampire movie all his own...Lost Boys. But his role in "Lucas" was the film that won me over. Adorable geek tries to win the love of a popular girl. This movie came out in 1986- march and touched upon all the classic themes of popular vs geek, superficiality and underdog, and soon became a cult classic teen movie. It features a super young Winona Ryder (her first major role), Jeremy Piven, Charlie Sheen, Courtney Thorne-Smith and Kerri Green as "the girl". watch the trailer HERE if you've never seen this before.
I normally wouldn't blog about his passing, but this past year has really been a whirlwind of teen nostalgia vanishing. I realized this when Michael Jackson and director John Hughes passed away, that I was also mourning the loss of that time period in my life as well. With their passing, they reminded me of my old dance routines in the driveway, the introduction of the VCR and boys coming over to watch movies in the basement, and the "neighborhood" I lived in pre-parent Divorce where no one locked doors. Their deaths brought back a sudden realization that things were no longer as simple as they were back in the 80's. I know this is a silly realization, Duh Kime! But truly I sometimes think about what an impact some of these movies, performers and film makers had on us as teens. Way before everyone was so connected by social network sites and cell phones, we actually had to try to connect with something or someone. I kind of liked it way better. There is no way now to go back to the way it was, busy signals (emergency breakthroughs), actually going into a library to check out books to write a school paper. Ahhhh. It's official I am turning into a grown up. I'm going to be like my father and cherish the "good old days" the 80's will be like my dad's 60's. I suppose I will choose to recall Corey Haim as a gawky teen collecting bugs or fighting vampires.
