So we are headed for a heat wave this week and obviously I am bordering on delusion. I live on the fourth floor of an old 1930's building in an apt that could use a nice overhaul.
As of today I wish I were in this room, and it was mine to decorate (for the record my apt looks nothing like this, I only wish)
wearing this matching ensemble:
wouldn't hurt to have a body like this as well, I suppose:
maybe wearing this on my head? Ok, have I taken this too far yet?

(hair photos from Jennifer's blog http://moments-of-grace.blogspot.com)
I could be inspired by this old editorial over and over.
Sure it's from way back in April of 2002 (Vogue UK), but somehow Corinne Day and the magical styling of this seem sort of timeless. I may have posted these awhile ago. Who knows? But thought you blog readers may need a pastel peeling wallpaper beaded tiara costume boost this Tues.
The title of this piece was Hidden Treasures. Of course it was.

we also just started carrying this new line by Toujours Toi:
Whenever things trigger my mind to want to make things, it's good news.
Here's a few from the weekend. Some are from the creative vault of 2006. What is old is often new again when you forgot the feeling you had the first time it grabbed you
not only is she stunning, but I heard she has the most throaty sexy deep voice on camera

up next is the perfect doily knit top. It captures every sculptural quality I adore

and if you may notice...it's Elina!

some sweet outsider art by Sam Gant found at the Jack Fischer gallery site.

Gant spent most, if not all, of his life struggling to communicate despite diagnoses of autism and deafness and a resulting inability to verbalize. His work had a way of communicating for him.
Things that secretly make me smile:
1. I have a fond fetish for jumpsuits. I have to admit that they are not an easy sell. It's hard to go to the bathroom quickly in a jumpsuit, but they make a hell of a statement.
A woman who wears a jumpsuit is practically shouting- "I'm not afraid to bulldoze you with my power".
ok, sure this may be too cute to exude ultimate superhero power, but it's got some magic mushrooms representing

2.) Up there on my favorite list: all clothes / accessories that seem to be torn from an art museum wall, or borrowed from the alley. Abstract artist collision with tribal prints. I think that my heart may have never left the 80's and that Basquiat may have manipulated the way I experience colors

otherwise feel free to look at them longingly at no cost here.

The latest fashion inspiration hails from Italy, ah bella bellisima
Notice that I am Italian and yet so lacking the lingo. Mr. Tim Walker (my favorite photographer) has once again snapped a spread that oozes pastel pretty.
Here's a sneak peak at the new Italia VOGUE 08 Tim Walker spread
titled A MAGIC WORLD
these next ones are from ELLE ITALIA 08

According to the birthday book that I own on Astrological Signs, my exact day of birth is known as the DAY OF RESEARCH. Something's listed about my need to investigate, take lots of notes, and have all the paperwork. I think this actually echoes some truth, considering that in college I would take out countless books and magazines and xerox all of the articles for future reading. I have always digested fashion magazines like a junkie after a good fix. I love skipping page after page til that one compositional image pops out and punches me in the face. It usually has to have some level of surrealism (but not space age, I'm never into those futuristic leather set ups) Something has to make no sense in the fashion set up, or the colors have to be like a firework went off in your face.
Whoa. I just thought about that...ouch.
Although hands down I could wallpaper the entire block with my magazine collection, and create a stairway with my books, I will try to keep a lid on them over here.
Here's this weeks favorite PUNCH in the face

Then I found the latest issue of Australian VOGUE featuring GEMMA WARD in fashion story by Patrick Demarchelier
Then I fell in love with Mario Testino's magical spread in the forest with sasha pivovarova and pals. This was in my latest British Vogue.

In all of my years as a super shopper, I must admit I've never participated in the after Thanksgiving Sales hoopla. I guess that in the past I never felt the need to be surrounded by fanatical ladies elbowing me for a size 7.5 shoe. But who knows, maybe tomorrow instead of cleaning up all of the dishes, I'll opt for a spree instead.
One thing for certain, I'm not going to find these lovelies there
