Ever since I was a kid- I have loved makeup. I have never been that good at applying it nor picking out subtle colors to accent my skin tones. My friend Viv finds it funny that I always choose eyeshadow shades as if for a palette I will paint with. In my makeover fantasies these are the shades that appear.
Some of these images remind me of that infamous shot by Guy Bourdin (fashion photographer extraordinaire) where he had the makeup artist glue tons and tons of pearls to the models faces and torsos. After he took the amazing pics- the makeup artist asked "How do we get these off--? and he replied How should I know?'
If I can't find places to wear this makeup- at least I can paint it on paper...
I really am insanely in love with your drawings, they marry two of my favorite things: eye-popping color and fashion. Beautiful!

Heehee!
You silly...it is true though.
you are always drawn to the eyeshadow quads that are crazy colors you will never wear in life. I need to go to Macy's to make a makeup return and someone I know *hint hint* has a Macy's charge...wanna roll over and get some maquillage?
Lemme know.
That one picture above of the crystalline syringe looking spikes going over/into the model's eyes is gonna give me nightmares. The rest are pretty inspiring. Have you worn your latest shadow from our last makeup counter excursion yet?
My favorite makeup fantasy inspiration (and I know you probably love him too) is Serge Lutens' amazingly crazy surreal makeup he did in the 80's for Shiseido and for Elle mag...

remember that one shot from Elle where he painted the model all white with crazy eyes and had a live snake slithering up her face?!
Too much.
Call me later or tomorrow...xo
